Eight 2013 Wallets Wake up in a 25-Second Burst
Today, on Sept. 5, 2026, eight dormant wallets first created in 2013 shifted 25 BTC each at block height 965625, all within 25 seconds of each other.
The transfers, discovered by btcparser.com, looked to be the same entity and almost certainly one owner consolidating. In addition to those eight transfers, the 13-year-old BTC was sent to the custodian Bitgo, according to Arkham Intelligence.
2013 Wallets Move the Brunt, 2011 Coins Turn $285 Into $7.22 Million
2013 wallets have been the biggest spenders in September, with 346.07 BTC spent across a total of nine separate transfers. Excluding the eight transfers sent to the crypto custodian Bitgo, another sole transaction moved 146.05 BTC on Sept. 2. September’s second-largest dormant spender so far emerged on Sept. 3, revealing three distinct transfers from wallets dating back to 2011. Those three movements spent 90.50 BTC worth $7.22 million.

When the stash was first obtained, 80 BTC sat in wallets first created on Nov. 5, 2011, back when bitcoin’s price was a mere $3.15. The third wallet that moved was born on Oct. 29, 2011, and it shifted 10.5 BTC, and bitcoin prices were roughly the same at that time as they were in November 2011. That means the value of the 90.5 BTC cache grew from $285 to the $7.22 million it trades for today.
September’s Vintage Bitcoin Activity Cools From August
Alongside these transfers, 40.91 BTC moved from a single wallet created in 2012, another 40.27 BTC moved from two addresses that were first seen in 2014, 50 BTC shifted from a 2015 wallet, and another 58.97 BTC stemmed from two transfers from wallets created in 2017. September’s sleeping bitcoin shifts only represent 9.75% of the total dormant BTC moved in August.
The average vintage BTC spend in August was around 214.25 BTC, and while Sept. 5 and the month are not quite over, the average daily spend from old school bitcoin wallets so far this month is around 125.34 BTC.
